When the Calling Is Clear

When we opened our first childcare center, I knew I was exactly where God wanted me to be.

Doors opened that shouldn't have opened. People believed in us before we had much to show. Every step felt like confirmation that we were walking in our calling. There was no doubt in my mind that this was what I was created to do.

When Calling Alone Isn't Enough

But calling alone wasn't enough.

As the business grew, so did the responsibilities. I wore every hat I could find—administrator, problem-solver, HR, scheduler, marketer, and often the person covering the shift when no one else could. I thought being faithful meant saying yes to everything the business demanded.

Losing Clarity Without Losing the Calling

Eventually, I realized something hard: I hadn't lost my calling. I had lost my clarity.

I was so busy responding to every need that I stopped asking where I was actually going. My days became filled with urgent tasks instead of intentional leadership. I had confused movement with progress.

The Danger of Calling Without Clarity

That's a dangerous place for any entrepreneur.

A calling gives you direction, but clarity determines how you get there. Without it, even meaningful work becomes exhausting because you're constantly reacting instead of leading.

Building Beyond Constant Involvement

Looking back, I don't believe God was asking me to carry everything. He was inviting me to build something that could outgrow my constant involvement. There is a difference.

Reconnecting With Your Purpose

If you've been feeling overwhelmed lately, don't assume you've missed your purpose. You may simply need to pause long enough to reconnect with it. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do isn't adding another task to your calendar—it's remembering why you started in the first place.

When Clarity Protects Your Joy

Because calling without clarity doesn't just slow your progress.

Eventually, it steals your joy.
