Why Your Team Isn’t Thriving—And How the M3 Process Fixes It
Most business leaders don’t have a people problem. They have a training problem.
You can have the most passionate, talented team members in the world, but if your onboarding and delegation systems are weak, chaos is inevitable. Poor execution, inconsistent results, and constant frustration often stem from one thing: you haven’t shown them what excellence looks like.
Enter the M3 Process—a practical leadership model to train, delegate, and lead your team with clarity and consistency.
1. Model It
Too many leaders throw tasks at new hires and expect excellence. But excellence has to be demonstrated before it can be duplicated. You can’t expect someone to do something “your way” if you haven’t clearly shown them how.
Whether it’s through a video tutorial, a live demonstration, or a shadowing experience, the first step is to model the exact behavior or process you want replicated. Don’t assume they’ll figure it out. Lead by example—especially when quality matters.
2. Mimic It
Next, let them practice under a tight rope.
During the mimic phase, your team member shadows the modeled task and tries to replicate it exactly as demonstrated. This is where feedback is crucial. You correct in real-time, adjust, encourage, and refine until the performance matches the standard.
This step is often rushed or skipped entirely, leading to future breakdowns. Take the time to let them mimic under your supervision. Think of it as your leadership insurance policy.
3. Manage It
Once proficiency is proven, manage the expectation—don’t disappear.
Create systems to hold your team accountable. Digital checklists, SOPs, and weekly reviews are your allies. Delegation without management isn’t leadership—it’s abdication. The final phase ensures consistency, autonomy, and long-term success.
Real Delegation Builds Freedom
Many leaders complain, “No one wants to work hard anymore,” or “I don’t have time to babysit.” But leadership isn’t babysitting—it’s intentional development. The M3 Process doesn’t just train people; it builds leaders.
If your systems are being ignored, results are inconsistent, or staff performance feels random—check your M3 execution. Start by asking:
Have I modeled the result I expect?
Have I given them space to mimic and receive feedback?
Am I managing outcomes with clear systems and regular accountability?
If the answer is no, the problem doesn’t start with your team. It starts with you.
Implement M3 with intention, and you’ll not only empower your team—you’ll finally get your time, freedom, and confidence back.
